Ben's Morning Routine

Ben is NOT a morning person. Many people aren't - including myself. But he is extreme. This is how every single morning goes. 5:45am - first alarm goes off. 6:30am - second alarm goes off. 7:00am - third alarm goes off. I get up - Ben hits 'snooze'. 10 minutes later, alarm goes off and Ben hits snooze again - he repeats this 4 more times until about 7:50 - he technically starts work at 8:00am but we are about a 3 minute drive from his office(and he usually gets to work at 8:15am - he's adjusted his hours to work until 5:15pm). Then he finally gets out of bed....goes to the bathroom and sits and sits on the toilet. Then he goes back to our bed, takes ALL of the duvet and wraps himself in it cocoon style. (I will see if I can get a picture of him tomorrow morning as proof - and it's kind of funny). Then he sits there. A few minutes later he begins a crazy high-speed mad dash to get out of the door on time. And in a whirl - he's gone. He also always showers a night so it won't cut into his sleep time.

He's a funny guy - one day it is my dream to get up at the same time and get ready long before we are due at work. Then have breakfast and coffee enjoying the sunrise on our deck (this is clearly during the 4 months of warm weather we have up here).

But I don't see my dream coming true any time soon...

Maybe it's time for a new post....

Well, my attempt at blogging again begins...again! The only excuse I really have for the absence is a lack of time... and the fact that we are no longer on a Swiss adventure! That just seems a little more exciting ;) Life has been just crazy. It goes in waves - if I stay on top of everything and get enough sleep, I always find a way to plow through. But every now and then, I fall behind, have some short nights and then it feels like I'm drowning. That's when I have a small mental break-down! Me on little sleep is quite a grumpy version of myself.
But we're all busy in one way or another, maybe it's just that I need to find a balance and a way of dealing with my day to day.

Last week Ben and I went on a trip to Saskatchewan. It was a bit of a blur. We flew to Medicine hat then drove to Rocanville for a video shoot Ben was doing. It was fun tagging along, being his shadow and going on a crazy helicopter ride. It reminded me of our year in Europe. Not so much the helicopter part as just following Ben doing his work. I love seeing him in action. He is so confident and professional dealing with clients. It's such a contrast from the crazy after work Ben that I see the most often.

After that we spent a couple days in Frontier/Consul. My sister didn't know we were coming so it was so much fun to surprise her and see the boys. I still cannot believe my baby sister has 3 babies! They are all so much fun.

It was nice to get away to breathe again and catch up on some much needed sanity and alone time together.

Coming back to work after a week away can be brutal, but this week was great as I trained a lady to fill-in for me and 'float' things a bit. That sure made a difference - I am hoping to have her again for my Christmas holidays.

Well, I hope everyone is well! Look for another post soon.... ;)
