A mouse...In the House

So an interesting event of this past week.....it is true that we did have a mouse in our apartment. How did it get here? I have NO idea. We are on the third floor of an apartment complex, so unless it can scale stucco walls or squeeze through a crack of half a centimeter I have no clue how our little house guest made it in. The scenario: 2:30 AM, "scratch-scratch, scratch-scratch-scratch" Ben and I look at each other wide-eyed. Ben: "I think its a rat! Its in the closet" Ben opens the closet holding the baseball bat and slowly starts to remove items one at a time. He discovers its been trying to eat a bag of flour. He grabs a flashlight and voila....there it is : a teeny weeny little mouse....not a rat.... THANK the Lord...I would have died. So instead of killing the thing and getting mouse guts on our floor, I insist to Ben we just catch it and release outside. He rolls his eyes at me and calls me a wimp...or something to that effect. Farm boys will be farm boys...something about the thrill of the kill they say...??? On the other hand, Farm girls may not always be farm girls I have discovered. Once upon a time I used to catch mice with my bare hands at our farm or carry dead ones with dad to the farm cats....or kill them with shovels.....or my foot....or a pitch fork. Anyways... back to my little story. I absolutely freaked.... I was out of control. First I was safe on top of the computer chair wrapped in a blanket...then Ben insisted I help him. So I grabbed an empty box and a stick and moved myself to the kitchen counter. Still not helpful. So I inched my way to the closet to "help". Ben cornered the beast and successfully prodded it into the box and turned it upright, when he did, the mouse litterally jumped out 2 feet in the air and ran towards me chasing me back onto the kitchen counter with my stick, screaming. It hid under the fridge....greeeaaaaat. So, we made a barrier so the mouse couldn't escape the kitchen. Ben put the box in a corner where the mouse would likely run and moved the fridge out. It didn't go into the box.... it squeezed its nasty little body through our barrier somehow. Long story short, we chased the thing around the apartment for an hour, ripping the place apart and then it went under the fridge again......this time, we got smarter and put out a sleeve from a camping chair (something long and dark). And sure enough, he ran inside. Then Ben threw him off the balcony.....Bye-Bye- Mouse... annoying, scary little mouse. (When we develop our pictures I will post them) Ugh.
