Cats VS Dogs

The infamous question that has plagued pet-lovers alike....which are better: cats or dogs? Evidently, it also plagued this young couple as well. Ever since being married we've thought about expanding our family...that's right a baby......A baby cat or a baby dog. We plan to hold off on the human kind for awhile! While dogs have more personality and are more interactive with their owners, cats are cuddly, soft and smaller than most dogs. But then again, Johanna wants a Chihuahua ( which, sadly does (somehow) fall under the dog cat-egory and no dogs are allowed in the apartment) And much to Bens delight, cats are allowed. Cats are this guy's favorite. Like seriously....he LOVES cats...if he sees a stray one...he'll run over to it with open arms and dodging traffic just to pet it. Its digusting. Now Johanna, is convinced that a Chihuahua is not really a dog and more like a cute gopher/babyseal/baby fawn......now who wouldn't want to pet one of those!?!?!?? When Johanna told Ben this, Ben wanted to take up seal hunting as a new hobby. Johanna is more than willing the shell out the $400 to buy a chihuahua.....but the price is rising as stupid Paris Hilton has one and made them a fashion statement. Poor dog. Unfortunately (but fortunately ;-) The finances would not support this new member of the family...even if it was a cat....You have to buy them here! At home you can just have one of your neighbors kittens! And lets look at the Con's of having a pet cat or dog: they shed, they poop in a litter.....or on the floor, they occaisionally pukeup grass and other foreign objects, they can be noisy, they are hard on the wallet...and the drapes, they (essentially) smell bad, have to be exercised, and the list could go on. Our conclusion: it would be a huge mistake to invest in a cat or a dog (or a baby-the previous list of disadvantages applies) at this point in time. We are always busy and never home so they would be sad and lonely and take their frustration out on our leather. Growing up with many pets around, we know just how big a responsibility having a pet truly is. Its amazing what people do to get a little love from a furry four-legged animal.
